An evening with Kate Adie in Swanage

On Friday 25th April we were delighted to host an evening with Kate Adie at the stunning Mowlem Theatre in Swanage.

Kate is the patron for our Emergency and Critical Care Appeal, which aims to raise £2.5 million to fund crucial enhancements to the new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit which is currently under construction at Dorset County Hospital.

The evening was attended by over 270 people, all keen to listen to Kate’s stories of her amazing career in journalism, her experiences travelling the world, and how media reporting has changed with modern technology.

Kate lives in Dorset, and is very supportive of everything local, including Dorset County Hospital. She said, “You never know what’s going to happen in life, and it’s immensely important that the Emergency Department functions properly, with the right equipment and facilities. It’s not just the medical elements, it’s having space for quiet moments for relatives and friends to speak privately, but also space for staff to rest and re-energise when working long hours in stressful situations.”

She added, “There are so many ways to support this important appeal, so why don’t you get in touch with your fundraising ideas and make a real difference.”

Money raised from the appeal will provide funding above and beyond the NHS budget for elements such as a new child and adolescent mental health suite, dedicated relatives’ rooms and paediatric bed space and equipment in the new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit.

Thank you to everyone who attended this event in support of DCH Charity.
