Events and Challenges

Taking on a personal challenge to raise money for a cause close to your heart is something a lot of our supporters do to give something back to our local hospital.

Whether you’re setting up your own event, or taking part in a larger organised event, we are here to support you.

Welcome to our 2026 Events and Challenges

There’s lots of equipment and facilities to raise money for at Dorset County Hospital, and challenge events are a great way to bring a team together for a common goal, or complete a personal challenge which is important to you. You could raise funds for a ward or department that’s close to your heart or help us reach our goal to pay for equipment such as a new ventilator for the new Emergency Department, as part of our Emergency and Critical Care Appeal.

Can you take on the challenge and help us?

To help get you started, take a look at our highlighted challenges to find out more. You’ll find information, inspiration and ideas to help you plan your own fundraising adventure. We’d love to hear about your challenge and support you along the way, so please get in touch and let us know what you’re planning…

Jurassic Coast Challenge 2026

One of the most popular challenge events of the year is the Jurassic Coast Challenge, which caters for all levels of fitness and ability, and is perfect for Dorset locals who love where we live! In 2025 our supporters raised £10,000 for through this event – in 2026, we’d love to smash this target and reach £30,000 to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. We need as many people as possible to take part.

From Corfe Castle to West Bay and everywhere in between, walk jog or run a distance of your choice on 16/17th May 2026. Distance options range from 100k to 10k, so there’s something for everyone. Charity places are still available, and we will refund your registration fee if you raise £250 at least two weeks before the event. Read more about the Jurassic Coast Challenge options and event details here and get in touch with any questions.

If you are interested in fundraising on behalf of Dorset County Hospital and are looking to set up a fundraising page to share with your friends and family, please visit our Justgiving page here click on the ‘fundraise for us’ button and follow the instructions provided. You can sign up either through Facebook or use your email address and follow the simple step by step process.

Your fundraising story is so important to help your family and friends understand why this challenge is so special to you.  They will be more likely to donate if they know your reasons for going the extra mile for Dorset County Hospital. So don’t be afraid to be honest, use some photos, and really explain why you’re going the extra mile for Dorset County Hospital Charity!

As with any donation, you can fundraise for any area of Dorset County Hospital which is important to you – whether it’s a specific piece of equipment, a general donation to a ward or department, or even a donation to staff to buy something for their rest area. We are completely guided by you, but happy to give advice on how to help your donation to make the biggest difference for patients and staff.

Our Appeal is raising £2.5 million to fund enhancements to the new Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit, currently under construction at Dorset County Hospital. You can read more about our Emergency and Critical Care Appeal here.
